Parents, before you read further, do one thing for me. Sit your son or daughter down tonight and ask one simple question: “What is actually happening in your college?”
Not “How are the marks?” Not “Did you eat?” Ask what they have learned in the last three months, what they have built, and what they can do today that they could not do in January. Their answer, and their silence, will tell you more than any report card.
I started 19M Academy because I saw this gap again and again. I have visited many colleges, spoken to many students and asked honest questions. I rarely got honest answers. So let me be the one who says it out loud, with love and without blame.
- A B.Tech year has very few weeks left for real learning
- Skills, projects and knowledge are what the job needs
- No fake promises: real training and one year of placement guidance
Why are there so many edtech platforms today?
Because the gap is real. If every student left college with skills, projects and confidence, nobody would need extra training. The fact that so many platforms exist, and so many students still struggle to get placed, tells us something is missing between the classroom and the job. This letter is about what is missing.
A B.Tech year, month by month
This is the honest calendar as I see it in many colleges. Not every college and not every student, but common enough that you will recognise it.
- Month 1: Admissions, orientation and settling in. Classes start slowly.
- Month 2: Freshers’ party. Dance practice, rehearsals, outfits and posts. About 15 days of everyone’s attention goes here.
- Months 3 and 4: Mid-term exams, then 15 days of full exam mode. Then club events and competitions for the new batch, followed by the branch fest and fund collection. Another stretch gone.
- Month 5: Games, cultural programs and welcome events organised for the juniors. A few classes happen in between. Then the semester exams arrive.
- Month 6: A break of 15 to 20 days. When the new semester starts, classes, books and labs begin slowly.
- Months 7 and 8: The college festival, festival holidays, then more holidays. Almost a month goes in the festive season alone.
- Month 9: The annual day. Another 15 days of practice and preparation.
- Last months: Farewell, signature day and the final exams. Faculty are busy with events too.
Now add it up honestly. How many weeks in the year were left for real learning, real practice and real projects?
What nobody is talking about
While all this happens, the conversation on social media is only about who came as the chief guest, which star visited which college and whose function was the best. “Our college had this hero.” “Our fest had that hero.” Posts, status updates and comments pile up. Meanwhile, a quiet question stays unasked: who is thinking about the job?
Even in classrooms, some lectures suffer. Teachers prepare to teach with energy, but students are busy with a program, a rehearsal or an attendance request for an event. And between all this, there are the friendships, the love stories and the group dramas that eat the rest of the time. I am not judging anyone. I was a student too. But somewhere, B.Tech became about enjoyment and status, and the reason we came, to build a career, slipped out of the picture.
Then placement season arrives
Suddenly the question changes. A company comes. The recruiter asks:
- Where is your resume?
- What are your skills?
- What projects have you built?
- Explain this concept to me.
And too often, the answer is silence. Not because the student is not capable. Because for three years nobody asked them to prepare. Placement season is the first time they are asked to show what they know, and it is too late to start from zero.
My message to students
- Enjoy college, but protect your time. Fests and friends are part of life. But decide a fixed time every week for skills and do not trade it away.
- Stop competing on status. Nobody will remember which hero came to your fest. A recruiter will remember your project.
- Ask yourself why you joined. You joined to get a good job, to stand on your own feet and to take care of your family. Do not forget that for the sake of a few likes.
- Start now, not in final year. Every month you start earlier is a month of advantage.
My message to parents
You work hard and spend your hard-earned money on fees. Please sit with your child, look at them kindly and ask what is happening in college. Ask what they are learning, what they are building and who is guiding them. Ask whether they have a resume, a LinkedIn profile and a plan. You are not interrogating them. You are showing that you care about the outcome, and that matters more than the marks.
What you need at the end of the day: skills, projects and knowledge
At the end of the journey you need a job. For that you need three things:
- Skills that companies actually use.
- Projects that prove you can build something.
- Knowledge to clear every interview round, from the first test to the final HR conversation.
And above all, remember why you are joining a course or a college: to build your future, not to make others happy. Do not forget that and run behind short-term attention.
What a week looks like at 19M Academy
This is the system I built from everything I have seen and faced. Let me describe a typical week:
- 5 to 6 days of live classes. You learn a skill in a simple language.
- A project on what you learned. You do not just listen. You build.
- 40 coding questions to practise and solve, with help from mentors.
- Aptitude and reasoning sessions for the first round of interviews.
- HR round preparation so you can speak with confidence.
- LinkedIn profile and ATS resume sessions, dedicated and separate.
So you do not only get classes. You get skills, projects and knowledge, each with its own dedicated session. We also provide placement guidance for one year. Many students receive around 450 job notifications directly on their mobile during that year, sometimes more than 500, so they know where to apply.
One more honest thing: no fake promises
You will hear many institutes say “100 percent placement guarantee”. Please do not trust that. Even the IITs do not promise 100 percent placement. At 19M Academy we will never give a fake promise. What we promise is real training, real projects, real knowledge-building and sincere guidance, and then the effort is a partnership between you and us.
Why I am telling you all this
I am not criticising colleges, faculty or students. Many teachers work extremely hard and many students are serious. I am telling you what I have seen and faced myself, because I visited many institutions and did not get proper answers from students about their plans. I started 19M Academy to answer exactly this problem.

Frequently asked questions
Is it wrong to enjoy college fests and events?
No. College life matters. The problem starts when events fill the whole year and skills never get built. Enjoy the fests, but set aside fixed hours every week for skills and projects.
What do companies actually look for in a B.Tech fresher?
Clear fundamentals, real projects, the ability to solve problems and communicate well, and a resume that shows all of this. Marks alone are rarely enough.
Does 19M Academy guarantee a job?
No. We do not promise 100 percent placement, and we do not believe anyone honestly can. We promise training, projects, knowledge-building and one year of placement guidance, and we help you apply seriously.
What happens in a week at 19M Academy?
Around five to six days of live classes, then a project built on what you learned, daily coding questions, plus separate sessions for aptitude, reasoning, HR rounds, LinkedIn and ATS resume.
